We are currently accepting applications for the full-time position of Executive Director.

Do you have a passion for art education and creative learning for children? The Trailhead Children’s Museum is seeking an experienced Executive Director to lead our organization through an upcoming period of growth.  In this role you will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of our organization including fundraising, staffing, public relations, business management and education programs.  The ED will also be a pivotal figure in the strategic planning for a future facility.

Job Description:

The Executive Director has overall responsibility for fundraising, staff supervision, planning, financial management, program management, marketing, and community relations for The Trailhead Children’s Museum. The Executive Director will work closely with the Board to develop and implement the strategic plan, establish policies, and provide leadership and support for the staff and volunteers.

 

We are seeking a hard-working, self-motivated individual who is aligned with our culture of creativity and fun, and who will continue to enhance The Trailhead through positive leadership.

 

Start date negotiable between Nov. 1 – Dec. 31, 2018

 

Starting Salary Range: $38,000 – $42,000 depending on qualifications. No benefits.

Duties:

Include but not limited to:

  • Developing funding opportunities through relationships with donors, business owners, museum visitors, program participants, government agencies and private foundations.
  • Working closely with the Board of Directors to establish polices, develop and evaluate a multi-year strategic plan that is specifically focused on a long-term facility.
  • Establishing the annual budget and preparing financial reports for Board review.
  • Communicating with families regarding Trailhead programs and opportunities for families.
  • Hiring, training and evaluating staff.
  • Submitting required business and charitable organization documents to the Colorado Secretary of State.
  • Working closely with the Program Director to develop, market, and execute education programs.
  • Working closely with Museum Coordinator to create and market a vibrant museum environment.

 

Minimum Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • A minimum of two years of experience in non-profit administration and fundraising.

 

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • At least 3 years of experience supervising or teaching pre-K, Kindergarten and/or elementary students, and a demonstrated passion for the intellectual, physical, and emotional development of children.
  • Experience specifically in art education
  • A high level of financial literacy and good business judgment, experience establishing and managing to budgets, and familiarity with Quickbooks
  • Experience in event planning.
  • Experience in graphic design, marketing and social media.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, together with the ability to work collaboratively and effectively with Trailhead staff, board members, parents, volunteers, donors, and community members.
  • Demonstrably strong writing, planning and organizational skills.
  • Flexibility and initiative, as well as the ability to work independently, combined with the skills for thriving in a team environment to achieve organizational goals.
  • High professional and ethical standards for handling confidential information regarding children and donors.
  • Ability to organize and complete multiple tasks simultaneously with close attention to detail and prioritization to meet deadlines.
  • A willingness to engage in hands-on work when needed such as creating exhibits and cleaning & organizing the museum.
  • Ability to travel and work evenings and weekends as needed.
