Semi-Private Wheel Throwing

Tuesdays, Jan. 24 – March 14th

(8 weeks, no class Feb 2o)

Location: The Art Studio, 111 Elk Avenue, Crested Butte, CO

Explore the next level of ceramics and spend 8 full weeks working exclusively on the wheel in a small, intimate 2 or 3 student group. Learn the techniques of preparing the clay, including wedging clay, centering on the wheel, pulling vessels and throwing a variety of pieces, glazing, and how pottery is fired in the kiln.  Class is limited to 3 students, providing plenty of one-on-one time with the instructor.

Wednesdays, Jan 18 – March 15

Location: Trailhead Children’s Museum

Hop on the Moose bus at the Community School and head to the Trailhead Children’s Museum for an afternoon of Art and Play.  Each week kids explore a different set of art materials, building creativity and exposing them to new techniques.  Dabble in drawing, painting, weaving, jewelry, sculpture, and more!  Children end the day by exploring and playing in our exhibits and museum spaces, supervised by our staff.  A teacher will meet children at the the bus stop by The Store in Mt. CB and walk them to the Trailhead.  Be sure to pack a snack for the afternoon!

Advanced Art: Drawing Skills

Location: The Art Studio, 111 Elk Ave., Crested Butte
Learn how to draw realistically in this eight week intensive course.  Master a variety of techniques and styles, including contour, hatching, stippling, and shading as you create your own masterpieces.  We will move from loose and fun warm up exercises like zen-tangle and telephone pictionary, toward utilizing our newly developed skills to draw realistically from our surroundings.  Students will broaden their creative vocabulary and gain advanced skills in drawing.  Be sure to pack a snack for the afternoon.
