School Break Camps

Winter Break, (M-F) Feb. 20th – 24th

Crested Butte Art Camp Registration
A day at The Studio’s art and science enrichment camp is filled with exciting projects, outdoor play, and creative fun. Each day begins with a morning art project focusing on getting the creative juices flowing. The main project for the day (see the day-by-day list below) has a fine art or science focus and is designed to help campers develop and explore their scientific and creative selves. During free play, campers play outside or take advantage of all that the museum has to offer indoors. The day ends in reflection of the day’s work and a recap of all the learning and fun that was had!

Campers need to bring: A snack, a lunch, a water bottle, and snow clothes for outdoor play.
Cost: $35/day for Trailhead Members; $40/day for Non-Members.

Registration is recommended but drop-ins are welcome – please call contact us to register and print and return the registration form on your child’s first day.

Winter Break Camp Schedule

Monday, February 20

ART, Create Your Own Stamps: Use your drawing skills to create simple designs that can be turned into stamps. Once your stamps are made, use them like a printmaker does to create a set of original greeting cards.

SCIENCE, Make Your Own Bouncy Balls: Use chemistry to make your own bouncing ball. Learn about polymers, molecules made up of repeating chemical units, which are created when your bouncy ball ingredients react with one another.

Wednesday, February 22

ART, Architectural Perspective Drawing: Learn how the artist creates the illusion of space with one- and two-point perspective. Use your new skills to design and draw a building that looks 3-dimensional.

Thursday, February 23

SCIENCE, Make Your Own Kaleidoscope: Study light, reflection, and symmetry while making one of the most fun toys around!

Friday, February 24

ART, Egg Shell Collages: Dye eggs, crack them open, and use the colored pieces to make mosaics. Study the famous mosaics seen in Rome, Venice, and Sicily for inspiration.
