How to Get to the Trailhead
501 Elk Avenue, Crested Butte, CO 81224
Walking or biking?
We are located at the corner of Elk Avenue and 5th Street. The best part of downtown is it’s walkability! We are 15 minute or less walking from anywhere in town—take a stroll to the Trailhead.
Taking the bus?
Get off the Town Shuttle at the 4-Way Bus Stop and walk less than a block up Elk Avenue to the Trailhead. The 4-Way Stop is the second stop in town, if you are traveling from Mt. Crested Butte.
Driving?
Parking is available on 5th St, between Elk Ave and Maroon Ave. Street parking is limited to 2 hours. Please consider carpooling during busy times of the year and leave parking available for those who may experience difficulty walking to the Trailhead. We also recommend parking at the 4-Way Bus Stop.
Trailhead Camps & Classes
Join the Trailhead for guided camps, classes, and workshops for children ages 0–12 and their families. Our offerings include full and half day camps, private lessons, and adult-child workshops.

The Trailhead Children’s Museum offerings are designed to delight and engage children and adults of all ages!
Our smallest friends will enjoy crawling up and over our giant foam Blue Blocks, exploring different textures and colors in the Nature’s Playhouse, or making a creative mess in the Art Bar.
Older children will stretch their minds and creativity while Bringing Engineering to Life, tickle their senses in the Light Lab, and create without boundaries in the Art Bar.
If you are unsure if the Museum is appropriate for your child, we invite you to ask our Museum Floor staff for a “sneak peek” before entering.
